We are two North Carolina State University students planning a journey across America to to "discover" the country where we live. Our goal is to travel from California to North Carolina this summer while learning and experiencing as many new and interesting things as possible. Show support for our blog by telling us what you think and giving us ideas to maximize this experience for us. Also, if you are feeling generous or just want to help us out, any minimal donations towards our journey to help us pay for the small things we will need along the way (i.e. bread, peanut butter, jam) can be made by clicking on the "Donate" button below the fan page link.

Our plan has changed...

Some brief updates before we start story-telling about what has happened to us so far:

Due to legal or bureaucratic tie-ups we have not yet been able to find an organization that was willing to "legally" allow us to sponsor them or "raise awareness" for their cause. This has been disheartening and has caused us to change the mission for our trip, but we are still plunging headlong into what we think will be one of the most interesting and life changing trips of our lives.

We still plan on hitchhiking across the country, but we have also learned just today about a service called "rent-a-wreck" which allows you to rent a crappy car if you are 21 years old for 25 dollars a day. Furthermore we now have an account on workaway.info a website that facilitates communication between families and travelers who exchange work for free lodging and food (5 hours of work = three square meals and a place to stay) without any contractual obligations. We hope to possibly utilize both of these services to help us discover even more of America without starving or freezing to death, while still spending very little money.

Now for some pictures of our first few days (Hollywood and Venice Beach). These are from Kevin's Droid since we don't have a camera.

  2. Sick pics guys. Looks like ya'll are doing it big. Be careful and don't do anything too stupid. I don't want to hear about any run-ins with community directors or anything like that. But definitely have fun and keep putting up pics like these. They're awesome.
